Speed skating teaches you something most people never learn: that the difference between winning and losing happens in the space between your ears before it ever shows up in your legs.
When you're crouched at the line, your heart pounding, muscles coiled, the ice ahead stretching out like a dare, you realize that discipline isn't about punishment. It's about trusting the thousands of hours of training it takes to build the muscle memory that helps your body run on its own, while your mind stays focused on the goal.
I grew up as a competitive speed skater, representing Team Nunavut in national and international competitions. I learned that physical strength means nothing without mental fitness.
After stepping away from speed skating, I found that same purpose in CrossFit, competing from 2015 to 2023. But somewhere in those years of coaching, I discovered something even more powerful: watching other people find their own version of that starting line moment. The teenager trying to make varsity. The grandparent who refuses to let age limit them. The athlete with a specific weakness they want to eliminate. And the person who just wants to feel strong again.
That's when coaching stopped being about fitness and started being about transformation, and a sustainable approach was essential.
Your body is capable of extraordinary things, but only if your mind can shepherd it there. My approach is about building a sustainable, individualized training and nutrition plan that respects where you are while helping you become more than you thought you could be. I have seen the thrill on my student/athletes' face when they achieve that perfect state.
When I'm not coaching, you'll find me in the mountains, with my dogs, or on the ice, always chasing that feeling of controlled power.
Your goals aren't just possible. They're waiting for you to develop the discipline to reach them.
Let's get to work.
